My friends said I should update my blog, so this is it. Over the weekend I watched two movies; Songcatcher and Confessor (Also called “The Good Shepherd”). Both seemed to hold promise but only one delivered. Songatcher has a blatant pro-homosexual agenda, which completely ruins the movie for family viewing. The director could have let the movie stand on the music that was well-performed by the characters, but instead had to insert her political statement into the plot line.

On the other hand, Confessor was a pretty good movie, portraying the Roman Catholic Church and Christianity in general with a generally sympathetic view. The movie touches on the pedophile priest scandal in the church, but does not become bogged down with that. It is part of the storyline, mainly to help set up the mystery of why a priest had been arrested.

At any rate, one thing I learned is that the movie companies will not openly state on the movie promotions the fact that some movies take advantage of the viewer in order to promote their radical agendas. Of the two movies, I would stay clear of Songcatcher. The soundtrack is available, and it has the same good music as the movie, without the baggage of the director’s political agenda. If you like a good mystery, Confessor has a great storyline that stands on its own, and doesn’t try to push anyone’s agenda down your throat.
