What I Believe

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

Several months ago at work, I was talking to an acquaintance, and during the course of our conversation, she said something about God. I replied, referring to God as masculine, in the manner of all orthodox Christians. My acquaintance tried to correct me and referred to God as feminine. I was deeply offended, but since I was working, I let it pass. Now, however, I have come to the conclusion I was wrong to let her comment slide. God is NOT a feminine being, no matter what modern feminists, new age practitioners, or earth worshipers might try to promote. So, without further comment, here is what I believe, as stated in the Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
